The Optimist Oratorical Contest gives students the chance to speak to the world. More than $150,000 in college scholarships funded by the Optimist International Foundations is awarded annually from this program.
The Essay Contest allows students to write about their own opinions regarding the world, with the chance to participate at a state competition where they have the opportunity to win a college scholarship.
Each year, the Optimist Club and local businesses sponsor a special event that recognizes top high school seniors that demonstrate leadership in Bixby Public Schools. Students are selected by their teachers and counselors.
The Bixby Optimist Club is open to all men and women who reside in or have an interest in the Bixby community, who wish to be known as “Friends of Youth”. Club members have the opportunity to “Bring Out the Best in Kids” along with other like-minded citizens. Through an Optimist Club, volunteers can answer the needs of local youth by organizing meaningful service projects.
